Brave Little Tankette - Hungarian CV33

A little something different today - the diminutive CV-33 tankette. The Hungarians bought a couple dozen from the Italians at the beginning of the war...and quickly realized the AFV's limitations. All the sources I've found seem to indicate that the few that were left operational after the invasion of Yugoslavia in 1941 were transferred to the Gendarmerie for use in anti-partisan operations inside Hungary itself.

The tankette itself is (IIRC) a 1/56 resin kit from Mad Bob or Empress that I received in 2017. I removed the original armament and added a new plasticard gun mounting with brass barrels to simulate the twin Gebauer MGs the Hungarians re-armed their tankettes with. I also added the side visors, headlamps, and tow hook. It is painted in a 50/50 mix of Tamiya Olive Drab and Olive Green with some edge highlighting/chipping done in VMC Medium Olive. The mufflers are done in Tamiya Olive Drab (but are so heavily weathered, it's difficult to tell). Decals are a mix of Mad Bob, Games Workshop, and Battlefront. Weathering is done with oil pin washes with some panel highlights in oils, and finally finished with dry pigments. I really wanted to give this tankette a dusty look, as most of the Hun tankettes traveled the roads under their own power and likely accumulated heavy amounts of dust and dirt.

The crewman is a Warlord Games' Italian figure. His overalls are successive highlights of VMC German Grey, VMC Grey Blue, and VMC Luftwaffe Uniform. His helmet, belt, and goggles are basecoated in VMC Leather Brown, with a highlight of 75/25 Leather Brown & VMC Red Leather. Skintones are various shades of VMC fleshtones, with a hint of VMC Old Rose in the cheeks to give him an angry appearance.

Absolutely love this! I've just received a Soviet B64 Armoured Car for Christmas and can't wait to get it painted and on the battlefield. Part of me thinks it's a shame that Bolt Action has been hijacked by the super tanks; I'd much rather see little vehicles like this one. Excellent painting job BTW.
