Lizard with a Laser-gun!
I seem to be doing pretty well lately with painting figures. This is a mini I picked up at Adepticon, he's from Badger Games and is called "Slee'Zan with Rifle VIII". Personally, I think he could do double duty as both a Tarellian in Inquisimunda and an alien bad guy in Doctor Who!
I based the color scheme on a real-world reptile, the European Green Lizard. The basic green bodywork was laid down using an airbrush with a mixture of Vallejo Livery Green and GW Goblin Green. It's blue front torso is GW Ice Blue.
The base is meant to portray a cooled lava floe and I achieved it by building up acrylic modeling paste in several layers and painting it with a black undercoat and successive drybrushings of lighter and lighter greys.

Crooked Dice "Not"-Doctor Who minis on Pre-Order!
Kev White (sculptor for Hasslefree Miniatures) has sculpted Dr. "Tweedy Mattison" and his companion "May Killan". These minis look impressive and will be a welcome addition to the DWMG. They are available for pre-order but no word on a release date...

Doctor Who 'The Eleventh Hour' Rules Released!
With the new season of Doctor Who now begun, the team behind DWMG have released a stand-alone scenario and set of rules based on the first episode, "The Eleventh Hour". Please note that, obviously, this PDF contains spoilers if you've not yet seen the show.
Any, if you haven't seen the show.....WTF ARE YOU WAITING FOR!? (For those of us outside the UK, I'll simply say 't-o-r-r-e-n-t'...)
I admit I had serious misgivings about Matt Smith and Moffat taking over the reins of RTD but I must say this episode was simply magical. It transported me back to the first time I watched the 5th Doctor on PBS way, way back in the 1980s! Let's hope this entire season stays so wonderful...

Doctor Who Miniatures Game - for free!
Over Christmas, I was finally able to complete my post-2000 Doctor Who DVD collection (I even received 2 copies of Season 4!). Over the holidays and with time to spare, I took to popping in a few and watching whilst painting and I have 2 happy outcomes.
1. Much to my chagrin, my wife actually watched a few episodes and was suddenly hooked on everything Doctor Who, and...
2. It got me thinking about what sorts of Doctor Who games are out there...
Well, there are several rather dismal games out for Doctor Who via official channels but there is also a fan-made hidden gem -
The Doctor Who Miniatures Game
DWMG (for short) is the brainchild of Graeme Dawson. The rules are free and include scenarios, monster, villians, and heroes from the 1st Doctor through the 10th (though the 4th season, aired in 2008, has yet to be completed and, as of this post, it appears there are no current plans for the "5th season" of specials, aired last year). Reading through the rules, I was amazed with the depth of the ruleset and fluff. You can tell this was compiled by some very loyal fans.
I've yet to play a game of DWMG but it appears to play very similiarly to Legends of The Old West - a small, skirmish-based 28mm tabletop game pitting factions (here, simply "Heroes" vs. " Monsters") against each other. Rolls are D6-based and every mini has unique stats and some special rules.
In addition, there's a Yahoo group devoted to DWMG and a miniature gallery and painting guide.

Dalek-inspired LED Big Med Stompa
"EKS-TER-MIN-ATE!!!"
My Dalek-inspired LED Mek Stompa's finally complete...I may re-do the head in the future to be more Dalek-like (basing it off the actual GW model's head), but would only do so if I work on another Stompa that I could transfer the current head too. This Stompa is about 70% scratchbuilt and 20% GW, with the remainder being comprised of a Tamiya KV2 tank kit.
