Another Hungarian tank completed, this time the Turan II. The base model is a resin Mad Bob Turan II which, while serviceable enough, missed a few important details and had some casting issues on the rear portion of the tank. To repair the miscast sections, I used some spare plastic bogie wheels from a 1/48 kit mounted on brass rod, some plasticard rod to replace the tubular structure between them (I have no idea what this was!), and plasticard rod to add the rear convoy light. On the front, I added tow hooks to the lower hull plate with 20g copper wire bent to shape, plasticard rods for the headlamps, angled plasticard for the wood support brackets, and wood for the wood supports themselves.
As with the CV33 posted yesterday, this was painted overall with a 50/50 mix of Tamiya Olive Drab and Olive Green. After some of the details were picked out and Mad Bob decals were applied, I sealed it and used the hairspray chipping technique to add the whitewash. Unfortunately, because of the odd surface texture on this model, the whitewash didn't come off in a natural looking manner, so I reapplied it using thinned oil pastels. I then gave it a pin wash of oils and some dusting with dry pigments.
Unfortunately, due to the problems with the surface texture on this model, I'm not really pleased with the end result. It looks rather grainy and unrealistic but with a long queue of models following behind it, I just don't have the time or patience to attempt to fix it. Oh well, sometimes that happens in modeling...
