Well, it's not as nice as I wanted it to be but for a few days work (total), I think it makes a fairly nice board. Mostly, I'm frustrated by the fact that the weathered wood tutorial I found online do NOT work the way the author pictured (which is why much of the wooden pieces appear white-washed, rather than weathered).
I think they look great. The whitewash parts really help tie them together into a shanty town, rather than just a scrap pile of dark junk. If you want to do more to make them weathered, some judicious use of washes will give great easy results. Nice work!
ReplyDeleteI understand the frustration that you feel, but once you gat away from it for a few days, it might not bother you as much.
ReplyDeleteI painted up phase one of a shanty town a while back...

I am also not totally happy with how mine turned out, but I hope to add a little more work to the original bits when I do the next batch of shanty elements.
If the "whitewash" still bugs you in a while then maybe you can do it when you add some vehicles or whatever to the set.
Not that it needs it, I would love to play on a table with your terrain :)
