These are the last terrain pieces for the Eastern Front board I'll be making this year - some shell craters. I made these as low, hard cover to break up the large swathes of open group prevalent on the Russian steppe. They're based on 3mm hardboard offcuts. Poster foamboard offcuts provide the "ridges" and slopes around each crater, with vinyl spackling filling the voids between them and covered with gravel, sand, and model railroad ballast. The wrecks are Warlord and Company B miscasts, with resin cast wheels copied from spare Warlord and Rubicon truck wheels. For a small quick project, I'm happy with the effect.
Now I'll be starting work on the Burma board for BA Nationals....
